Back in April, we moved our son into my sewing room.  I mentioned in that post that I either had to stop sewing at night or move my sewing machine into the dining room, well, guess what?

This is where I’ve been camping for the last four months.

My sewing machine, permanently parked at this corner of our dining table, the cutting mat on the other side.  Even when we were having dinner, the sewing machine remained in that corner.

Another surface to dump my stuff on.

Anyway, since it didn’t look like we’ll be moving back in the sewing room anytime soon, I thought a bit of rearranging was in order.

Can you see the difference?  It’s not a drastic transformation but hopefully a more functional one.   A friend had no use for her trestle table so gave it to me (I moved the buffet to the side).

My sewing machine sits on a couple of tables that came from my daughter’s day care centre (again, freebies).  They are a tad low but Mr AC has since put connectors into the table legs to increase the height of the table so that my sewing machine quilt table is about the same height as the trestle table.  If you read this post from Marguerita McManus, dining tables are a bit too high for comfortable sewing, I’m finding this new lower height to be much more comfortable.  She also has a tutorial on making your own custom built quilt table, which I’m keen to try when I’m game enough to start quilting my kaleidoscope quilt.

The height adjustable table Marguerita mentions in her tutorial, I got from Officeworks.  It’s a handy table to have.  I have it at counter height and for space saving purposes, I have it over the dining table.  I now use the table for cutting, pining, anything really because besides sewing, I do prefer to do most of my work standing up.

So there you have it, not the prettiest sewing space you’ve ever seen but as I’m being reminded by Mr AC, at least I have a space.  Oh and our son still has to share his room with my fabric.
