I hope your year has started off well and oh yes, we’ve been away and just returned from our road trip, just in case you were wondering why it’s been so quiet here.  Before we left though, I did a big tidy up of my sewing area ready for the New Year.

I moved my iron press from my “fabric room” into the sewing room, hoping that I would use it more because it is now in my face.

I’ve acquired a fair bit of dress fabrics and with no spot for them yet, my ironing board seems to be the perfect place to store these fabrics at the moment.  Want to have a closer look at them?

No quilting cottons in sight, but lots of yummy cottons nonetheless (except for the plaid  – 4th from the top) for shirts, skirts, shorts, scarves and dresses.

Some really super soft and comfy knits (especially the solid red and taupe coloured ones).  Stripes are so in right now, right?  I think it’s time that I take the plunge and learn to sew with them.  I would love to sew something for myself too out of this stash.

Again, fabrics I haven’t sewn with much before – some slippery silks and satins.  Except for the bottom one, the pieces are probably large enough for scarves, so expect to see them in the future.

Finally, the lace pile.  I must admit I’m not sure of what to make yet with these but it’s nice to know that I have some of these in the stash to make something special when inspiration hits.
