Pincushion Organizer or Caddy
A little present for a friend’s birthday using Elizabeth Hartman’s (Oh, Fransson!) weighted pincushion organizer pattern. When I saw this pattern offered for free at Sew, Mama, Sew! I immediately thought that it was a useful gift for any sewer.
The pincushion is weighted and have enough room for a few hundred pins I’m sure. There’s even a piece of wool felt in the middle to hold your sewing machine needles, if you tend to use different types and sizes a lot. What a great idea!
You can even drape it over your favourite armchair or sofa and do your sewing there. There are a few pockets to hold your essential gadgets (these aren’t necessarily my essential tools but were close at hand for the photo shoot).
Finally, the best thing about this pattern is this detachable bin which can be attached to pincushion organizer with a button,
or just have it sitting on your sewing table for collecting all those loose threads (which normally just gets thrown on the floor, right?)
Since it’s so useful, I need to make one for myself too …. I’d better add it to the ever growing to-do list.

What a great idea! I was just thinking about something like that today for keeping track of my unpicker near the sewing machine!
