Key Fobs: 3 Ways

I have seen these around for a while now and have been itching to give it a go. After getting myself some key fob hardware (hard to find here in Australia), I decided to try 3 different ways of making these.
Okay, after deciding on the fabric choices (Ikea’s GUNILLA range) from my scrap box , here is the first method.

This is probably the quickest way to make a key fob. It requires only cotton webbing, a set of hardware and some fabric scraps. Optional extras are interfacing and HeatnBond Ultrahold for the fabric strip. It is quite easy to put together but here is a tutorial for you to try.

The second method looks like the first except that I’ve replace the cotton webbing with fabric instead. Optional extra for this is Pellon Peltex – I used #71 (because that is all I had on hand) but #72 is another option. Here’s a good tutorial on this method.

Finally, the last method is also all in fabric except that both the base and top fabric are the same size (i.e. 1.25″ wide). Try this tutorial and see what you think.
I think Method Three is my favourite because I love the idea of using all fabric for a key fob as it gives me another reason to dig into the fabric scraps that I’ve saved for projects just like this. Plus I see that the key fob hardware also now comes in 1″ and 7/16″, so instead of buying webbing to fit those sizes, I can easily make my own out of fabric and interfacing.
So if you have 20 minutes or so to spare, I would love to see the key fobs you have come up with.
Thanks for the clear directions. Am itching to try these for Christmas stocking gift now!!!
