Yellow is Gold
I finally have photos of the O & S Ruffle Top I finished last year, yes, last year, it’s taken a while to get it blogged, eh?
Believe it or not, there’s no pink to be found in this top (maybe just a smidgen in Heather Bailey’s Tiled Primrose). The reason being, all the children in Sunday School had to wear something yellow (or gold which represents the golden streets and glory of heaven) for the Sunday School end of year wrap up. Problem is I’m not naturally drawn to yellow, (something about yellow not looking good against Chinese skin tones) so we don’t have anything in yellow and because I left it till the last minute (like the day before), I had to sew something.

From my limited yellow stash, this is the result – an O & S ruffle top, size M, supposedly for a 5 to 6 year old, my daughter had just turned 4 in these photos. I don’t think they’re overly big on her.

As usual, Lisel’s pattern was easy to follow and pretty straight forward. The ruffles are cut on the bias.
This supposedly reduces fraying and gathers more nicely. I personally would have liked it hemmed, but just didn’t have the time. Plus, the soft frays are not that noticeable anyway.
Another happy customer (I think). I think a dress version of this would be so pretty too but until I get my new sewing machine, there won’t be much sewing happening around here. Hopefully that won’t be too far away.
