Thursday night:  I must start on sewing the dress for S’s (our niece) birthday on Sunday.  Was still thinking.

Friday morning:  Woke up with migraine.  Not good.  Had to go sleep it off.

Friday afternoon:  Feeling much better (not 100% though).  Went fabric shopping at Spotlight.  Still no sewing done.

Saturday morning:  Just a bit of a headache.  Finally, started on sewing this little dress for the birthday girl.  It didn’t go as planned.  See the number of pin holes – I spent an hour sewing, unpicking, sewing, unpicking until I realised that I was slowly running out of time.

And in my haste, I ironed over the plastic snap and it started to melt straight away.  Time for plan B except that I had no Plan B.

Saturday afternoon:  Went out for lunch.

Saturday night:  Still no Plan B yet until I saw this from Pink Suede Shoe.  So finally, I started and finished sewing the birthday present (just in time).

Sunday morning:  Took plenty of photos.  This is the best I can do at 7am, so here it is …

a reversible twirly skirt in red polka dots with ladybird trim, with matching yo-yo brooch on a bought singlet.

And on the other side, a pretty floral fabric I had in my stash for quite some time now.

Elasticated waistband – means it can grow with the child.

Pretty lady bird ribbon trim – the finishing touch to this playful little skirt.

A matching yo-yo to jazz up an otherwise plain white top.

Decided to make the brooch interchangeable (I didn’t have any brooch pins, just lots of safety pins)

and turn it into a hair clip.  A double duty yo-yo.

Sunday afternoon:  Arrived at birthday party with the finished present.  Phew!  Let’s hope she (or mummy or daddy) likes it.
