The Party Dress
Ta-da!!! I posted a sneak peak back in December last year and I’ve finally gotten around to posting it now. Just call me SLACK!!! Anywayz, back to the dress.
This dress has to be my daughter’s absolute favourite at the moment. When I first saw the free pattern and tutorial at Ucreate, I thought to myself that this has to be the prettiest party dress ever. I really liked the combination that Lindsay used and it made me fall in love with Art Gallery Fabrics “Paradise” in Twilight Pond that I had to get some myself.

That’s it on the top and the rest of the Art Gallery fabric must have just fallen into the shopping basket. Ooops.

Cute little detail - a pleat in the sash.
Do you recognise the fabric combination? I used it in one other dress that she never wore. What a difference a year and a different dress pattern makes? I thought she would never wear anything I make. How happy am I to assume wrongly? I also used fabric from Art Gallery but from about 1.5 years ago. Yes, I’m hoarding fabric.

I have a feeling that my daughter likes the bow on this dress, it’s the feature of this dress. As you can see, I don’t bother with ironing at all. I figured it’s going to get wrinkled anyway, so no need to iron in the first place. This is probably why I should take photos as soon as they are finished because the only time I iron is when I sew.

Another cute detail, little flower buttons that I tried to match.

Probably won’t be able to see the buttons anyway with hair that long. And yes she loves the dress.
So if you want to make a dress that is guaranteed to be a favourite with your little girl, this is it. Go over to The Cottage Home for the pattern and tutorial and go make some little girl happy.

Oh, that’s such a pretty dress! I share your attitude re: ironing I only iron when I sew, too! I figure it’s kinder on the earth that way (that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it
