My Creative Space – Little Nora Jane Twirl Dress
The little Nora Jane Twirl dress is finished and I’m really happy with how it turned out. I fell in love with the dress when I stumbled upon it on Wildflowers & Whimsy and what a bonus to find the tutorial free.
I love the asymmetrical hem (the back is longer than the front). I see this a common trend in Australia this summer but only in adult sizes though.
The fabric is a linen blend which I picked up for $2 per meter last year. I just love the feel of this fabric, it’s so soft.
The bodice is slightly roomy for little miss so I attached a couple of loops to the back to thread the straps through.
Creating the casing for the bustle ties was a bit more challenging for me as I was trying to finish it off neatly but it looks like a dog breakfast under there. I’m too embarrassed to show you.
Nevertheless, on the outside, it looks much better and the ties do gather the dress nicely to create a lovely bustle.
Yet another reason why I love this dress. I wish I had more action shots of this dress but here are some more photos.

My daughter (now 25) loved twirly-whirly skirts when she was little. So far she has produced only grandsons, so there are no little dresses in my future (yet)!
