Believe it or not, I’m going to be super organised (yeah right!) and get all the Christmas presents done for Sunday school this year.  Now normally another teacher from the class organises the Christmas presents, but since I had fabric and vinyl left over from the peekaboo drawstring bags, I thought I might as well make some I Spy Bags.  I think they were all the rage a few years ago, are the kids today not interested in this kinda low tech play?  Anyway, the kids in Sunday school are between 3 and 5 years old, so I’m hoping that this toy will keep them occupied for 5 minutes at least.

So here’s how it works: I took a photo of the 30 items that were in the I Spy Bag (this is especially helpful for those who cannot read yet), this was then printed and laminated.  Then as per the instruction above, allow the children to find the objects in the bags.  It really is as simple as that.

Why I’ve called this the prototype?  It’s because I’ve never made one before, I experimented with the size and filler and am not entirely happy with how it has turned out.  The finished size of this I Spy Bag is 8″ x 8″, a little big, no?  Most bags I’ve seen are also filled with little plastic poly pellets which I cannot find easily and needing to make only 7 bags, I am looking for a cheaper alternative.  Rice is cheap and accessible, but the amount required for the bag makes it rather heavy, it makes for a good door stop though.  Does anyone have any affordable suggestions?
