Pleated Half Apron

Ok, one more apron to show and tell. This one I whipped up the night before the party. Well, I wish I could say “whipped up”, as it took more like a few hours than an hour that it will take most to make this simple apron. Nevertheless, I loved how this turned out even though I’ve always thought half aprons were a bit of a waste of time since there is still the top to get messy.
Anyways, I saw this apron a while ago at Kelly’s (Sewing in No Mans Land) and thought what a lovely hostess apron this will make. Even my husband thought it was a skirt and I had to explain to him that not only do aprons have to be functional, they have to be pretty too.

I just love the contrast of the Kona Grass against Pat Bravo’s Art Gallery Paradise Pond in Twilight. I love the look of the wide waist band and peek-a-boo pleat. But I think the ties should have been longer and wider though which I’ll keep in mind for next time. I may need to make a few for the present cupboard too so I don’t end up staying up till the wee hours of the morning sewing at the very last minute.
Love the green!
