Kaleidoscope Quilt Along: Nearly Finished

Well, not quite. I still have to add borders, piece the backing, baste, quilt and bind. Somehow I don’t think I’ll get it done by the 5th of August to qualify for the giveaway. Maybe I should have made one in cot size instead of this massive queen size one. But still, I managed to make my first kaleidoscope quilt as a result of the quilt along at Don’t Call Me Betsy so this is my prize.
I really wasn’t that in love with this quilt especially when my piecing was off and nothing matched up. So I quickly sewed up the blocks and just hope that somehow it will look okay standing 20 feet away. But when Mr AC took this photo, I thought, “Hey, it doesn’t look too bad if you don’t look at the blocks too closely.” Ok, so I’m starting to love it and maybe just maybe I might keep this for myself. But I do have another quilt for our bed in mind already, so this will be gifted when I do finally finish it.
By the way, I plan to quilt concentric circles preferably with my walking foot but am worried that I may find it difficult with such a large quilt. This will be the third quilt I will quilt and the biggest by far, so I am very inexperienced. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe this will end up to be my first hand quilting project after all.
Your quilt is beautiful and I love the colors!
I don’t have any quilting advice, I haven’t done a queen size yet either. Twin is about as big as I get and mostly straight line at that. I think I’m just too chicken to try, so I will be watching to see how this beauty turns out. I’ll bet she will be even more beautiful when quilted! ; )
