Kaleidoscope Quilt Along: Cutting, Pressing, Piecing

Finally, the fabrics have all been cut. I also included another purple into the mix which means this quilt is going to be 6 by 6 (instead of 5 by 6) unless some of my blocks don’t make it to final cut. Cutting instructions are found here.

Again, another helpful tip – finger press the corner triangles

and kaleidoscope triangle (oops, didn’t cut properly with the template)

match the fold lines and voila! The dog ears on the corner triangles should stick out evenly on the kaleidoscope triangle now.

And after hours of chain piecing, this is the result – a bunting of sorts, probably will look nice hung up in your sewing room, but I bet it’ll look a whole lot nicer in a quilt.
So before this week’s class, I’ll need to press open these seams. Lots of seams to press, well, 144 to be exact and I can’t wait to play around with the triangles a bit more before I make a final decision.
